AUGUST WALKS we will be walking for West Sussex Mind

West Sussex Mind have been working hard to look after peoples mental health for over 50 years. During that time, they have evolved and expanded their support and how they work.
It is important to them that anyone in West Sussex is able to get support. So their work includes outreach to ensure those who most need us know about us and feel able to ask for help. They provide support for children, young people, adults, older people, parents, carers and families, and specialist support for the LGBTQIA+ and resettled refugee communities.
If you are struggling with your mental wellbeing, they are there for you.
Mental health in the UK is facing a critical situation with rising demand, as 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England (e.g., anxiety/depression). NHS services are under extreme pressure, with a 33% increase in referrals from 2019 to 2023, leading to long waiting times and rising rates of mental illness among young people, now affecting over 1 in 5 children.
West Sussex Mind have waiting lists to access our services – and with our walking we hope we can help them be there for people who so desperately need their help!
Please help us support them

SEPTEMBER WALKS we will be walking for Sage House – Dementia Support
DURING SEPTEMBER I WILL BE WALKING THE 43KM SOUTH COAST ULTRA CHALLENGE AS WELL AS WALKING WITH THE WEEKLY GROUP FOR SAGE HOUSE DEMENTIA SUPPORT

Back in August 2022 I lost my nan (Jean) to Dementia and then 18 months later my Grandad (Dick Whittington) who passed also with Dementia in April 24. Ever since loosing them my walking journey has become a bigger part of my life because of them and its for them and others also going through this cruel Dementia Journey that I walk for.
On Sunday September 6th I will be walking 43km over the South Downs from Hove to Arundel to raise as much money and awareness as I can for this incredible local charity who provide so much support and guidance to those suffering with Dementia.
My nan and grandad didn’t get to enjoy these facilities offered but I know many continue to every day. I hope that by raising what I can for this charity it will enable those suffering with this cruel disease more support and facilities to help them negotiate this hard path.
Dementia is now the leading cause of death in the UK. It’s a devastating and complex condition. 1 in 2 of us will be directly affected by dementia in our lifetime, there is no cure. There are 980,000 people living with dementia in the UK. We at Dementia Support are there for all those who need our help. We reduce loneliness, give the best quality care and provide hope, supporting the whole family.
If there is anything that you can spare to help others it really mean the world to me. Thank you everyone once again for your incredible support xx
Also during September our walking group walks will be donating to this amazing charity too
